Food Therapy for Inflammatory, Intestinal Disorders and Allergies in Dogs.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), practiced for three millennia, tells us the importance of good nutrition in order to acquire intestinal and skin health for both humans and pets. Herein, we focus on dogs.
The foods still used today to feed the species are processed. More and more, we hear that processed foods are not healthy but rather convenient and quick to support nutritional needs. Both dry and canned foods obtained from your favorite merchant are designed this way.
Although due to their ease of administration, there is no need to go through the hassle of preparing their meal, dogs fed this way experience an increase in pro-inflammatory conditions as heat (TCM) increases in the body.
The thinking in TCM is when fed hot, dry food – the feed is cooked at temperatures beyond 500 degrees – the animal’s system is called upon to derive its nutrition from this conception, and the pro-inflammatory process is engaged.
There is growing evidence that healthy nutrition based on fresh, human-grade foods provides an important foundation in dog gut, skin, and coat health.
